On 4th Dec 2011 Tom Fitzsimons and Jamile Siddiqui will begin an epic journey rowing the atlantic from the island of La Gomera in the Canaries finsihing some 2931 miles on Antigua after rowing for up to 60 days. Their home for this ultimate test of endurance, courage, stamina and willpower will be a 23ft ocean row boat, they will survive on basic food rations and experience sleep deprivation as they alternate a 2 hour on 2 hour off rowing pattern. They will battle with stormy seas, come across inquisitive whales and avoid huge atlantic oil tankers.
The pair will be taking part in the organised international race 'The Woodvale Atlantic Challenge' one of the worlds toughest rowing races. Teams from all over the World compete on equal terms, in three race classes. All entrants are supported by professional on water safety coverage as well as port logistics, race parties and race web site.
